Look at LAN este un foarte bun program cu care putem monitoriza o retea de calculatoare in timp real.Cu acest program putem analiza in mod automat toate nodurile retelei, eventualele schimbari in timp real (cine iese sau cine intra in retea) sau putem diagnostica eventualele probleme din interiorul retelei analizate. Interfata grafica este foarte simpla si intuitiva,dintr-o privire se intelege tot ce poate face acest program. Din pacate acest program nu poate fi rulat pe Windows Vista, in schimb este perfect compatibil cu celelalte versiuni mai vechi de Windows (XP, 2000, etc.)

Daca in linux folosim Etherape, in windows putem folosi ceva mai avansat: Ethergrouik. Pentru a-l rula este esential sa aveti instalat winpcap. In fereastra principala apasati click pe primul buton de sub File, primul de la stanga la dreapta, pentru a alege o interfata de retea, apoi bifati Promiscuous mode, alegeti interfata pe care aveti legatura de retea, pe care aveti setat o adresa IP si apoi inchideti. Apoi Click pe al doilea buton de la stanga la drepta pentru a porni monitorizarea propriu-zisa. Apoi veti da click pe View - si bifati - Map by IP Address, si selectati de asemenea - Dynamic display. Puteti apela la consola (Start - Run - cmd - Enter!), folositi comanda ping pentru un site (de ex: www.google.com), intre timp puteti urmari traficul de date, prin intermediul programului de monitorizare. In cadrul Ferestrei puteti selecta de asemenea MAP, MATRIX pentru a vedea harta retelei in care va aflati, in acest caz suntem in spatele unui router, 192.168.1.101 este PC-ul Gazda, iar 192.168.1.104 este PC-ul Windows, Masina Virtuala, 192.168.1.1 - fiind routerul.
